A passion for design.
Each of our beds is a unique work of art, built and finished entirely by hand -- a meticulous process requiring several months to complete. All design work, painting, carving, and sculpting is the exclusive artistic work of Diane Hall. Natural variations in wood grain and the inherent qualities of hand painting, carving, and sculpting result in an artwork that is uniquely your own, as singular and special as your animal companion.

Our bed frames are hand-crafted by skilled local artisans using traditional woodworking tools and techniques. Each bed is constructed entirely of North American hardwood, providing beauty, strength, and durability, while avoiding the toxic chemicals and off-gassing of particle board, medium density fiberboard (MDF), and plywood.

Madrona Bay Designs is deeply committed to responsible forest stewardship, sustainable practices, and the importance of preserving biodiversity on our planet. We stay current on environmental issues and give back through One Tree Planted, a global nonprofit dedicated to reforestation efforts around the world.
About the Artist: Diane Hall
I have always had a passion for bringing joy and beauty into the world. As a child I painted hearts on river rocks, crushed rose petals to make perfume, and sculpted entire worlds out of modeling clay. As a young adult I discovered the delight of spinning clouds of exotic fibers into the perfect yarn for a special project. Later I became a cake designer, carving sweet sculptures for milestone celebrations. Madrona Bay Designs is the culmination of my artistic endeavors, born of a desire to transform a prosaic object – the pet bed – into a work of art that will pamper your beloved companion and bring joy and beautiful design to your home.
Sustainable Practices
Wood Selection
Our wood is sustainably harvested from North American forests. Skilled local artisans select each board by hand, choosing premium domestic hardwood that is strong, stable, and beautiful. All of our natural finish designs are available in Black Walnut, Rock Maple, or Black Cherry. Painted designs are crafted from Rock Maple.
Finishing Materials
All finishing products and glues are non-toxic and vegan. All artist oils and acrylics are safely disposed of to avoid groundwater contamination.
Fabric
Our custom cushions are created in-house, using premium heavy-duty upholstery fabric that can be cleaned with water-based treatments. All stain protection applied to the fabric is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
Packaging
We use eco-friendly packaging that can be reused, recycled, or composted.
